This shot uses the classic rule of thirds composition rule. With the grid enabled on my camera's viewfinder as a guide, I have placed the valve tower where the left hand vertical line and bottom horizontal line meet to create a pleasant composition. I have deliberately left lots of space on the right to show the body of water and I like how the sun reflects on the surface. The pic was taken with my Sony A7III and a 24-240mm zoom at 35 mm. The camera settings were: ISO 200, 1/400 sec shutter speed, and f/11 aperture.

Rottnest Island is a place where kids can run free. Simple things like riding a scooter or drawing on the road with a chalk stick may seem from a bygone eara - but not on Rotto. I snapped this picture with the 3x zoom on my Pixel 9 Pro. I have taken care not to identify the children by making them small in the frame. I have used the rule of thirds grid on the phone to compose the picture so the kids are placed where the bottom horizontal line and the right hand vertical line meet. They are moving away from the camera and into the picture which helps to draw the eye into the frame.

I like this shot of the South Perth apartment block framed in the branches of the tree. I think it shows the connection and contrast between the natural world and the city which Kings Park is so well known for. It is taken with my Pixel 9 Pro zoomed in to 10x and I have tapped on the screen to lock in the exposure on the apartment block so the branches of the tree are nearly black.

I chose this as my establishing shot because it captures many of the elements that make the jetty such an attraction. The beautiful clear water, the crisp blue sky, the blue houses, the timber jetty and the red train. I like the strong colour combination, the converging lines that draw the eye towards the centre of the picture, and the people walking off the jetty.
