AFL: West Coast will look to hand North Melbourne another loss on the Kangaroos two-week WA road trip after Fremantle handed them a 124-point defeat in Bunbury.

However, they will have to do it without three of their best with Reuben Ginbey, Tom McCarthy and No.1 draft pick Willem Duursma all out of the side through injury.

It means mid-season draftee Marcus Herbert gets a debut while Elijah Hewett and Tom Groos return to the side.

Much needed

West Coast felt on the ropes as North pressed forward but they find a way through and get it forward.

Cole then pulls off an incredible run down tackle to win a holding the ball free kick and slots the set shot.

Free kicks have been the difference since halfway through the second quarter.

The count sits at 27-19 for North Melbourne.

Momentum turning

West Coast have the contest back in their forward half but have missed two shots while Cole waited too long and had his smothered.

But the young Eagles have again shown they can halt teams.

Shanahan has gone behind the ball and looks very good coming up and intercepting exiting kicks.

North hot

North Melbourne get the first of the half after a dropped markl falls onto Trembath’s shin and rolls through the goals.

West Coast need to get the momentum back because they are under intense pressure as Sheezel snaps a ripper from the boundary.

West Coast dominated the start of the quarter and threatened to burst away but couldn’t quite find the goals to break North’s confidence.

And then up stepped Darling.

The former Eagle is having one of his best performances in blue and white with four goals already and is desperate to take down his old side.

Sheezel has taken over as the predominent ball-winner which has changed the Roos’ fortunes.

West Coast lead clearances by two and inside 50s by three.

Darling’s day

The former West Coast spearhead gets his third after finishing off a fast coast-to-coast play.

McKercher beat Yeo to the bouncing footy and then followed up with the get and go and hit Zurhaar in the middle.

The West Aussie then finds Darling out the back on Starcevich.

Reid factor

Harley Reid has had a spell on the bench but is back on having had just the one disposal in this term.

Meanwhile, Wardlaw missed a set shot for the Roos’ second in a row from 30 metres out after being held.

Freo edge?

West Coast are making the most of the dent Freo put in the Kangaroos confidence last week.

They are going hard and fast at every opportunity and trying to put that defence under real pressure.

They had a goal ruled out and then Waterman took an ill-advised snap but they could have had the last seven.

The Roos still look a scoring threat going forward but their radar is still on Eastern States time.

If you don’t mind

Waterman has two in a minute after being free in the pocket!

He can’t kick them from in front but give him an accute angle in the pocket and he can’t miss ‘em.

This is the Eagles’ chance to break the game early.

Can’t miss from there!

Waterman has a goal on the board after a strong start to the Eagles.

They have locked the ball into their forward half with good pressure and get their reward.

Yeo kicked it too the hotspot and it got over the back where Waterman was waiting to kick it through from the square.

Done

The Eagles have confirmed Hamish Davis is done for the day.
