Southern Wheatbelt women flocked to the Williams Town Oval on Sunday for the third annual Ladies on the Hill event for a special Mother’s Day.

Arranged by the Williams Football Club social committee, about 60 ladies dressed in their Sunday best joined from 2pm to celebrate the women who are part of the Upper Great Southern football community.

Zoned off by fairy lights and red ribbon, the event included drinks, treats, a grazing table and a raffle.

Organiser Claire Harley said the men’s Williams home football game always fell on Mother’s Day, so they created an event recognising the supporting women.

“We started this because women would travel all over WA to support their partner’s footy and we volunteer for the canteen and afternoon tea,” she said.

“So we decided a few years ago to host a ladies day on Mother’s Day.”
