Emergency scene unfolding after shark attack shuts Sorrento Beach

Emergency services have descended on popular Sorrento Beach after reports of a shark attack.

St John WA confirmed that three crews had been called to the scene under priority one conditions about 10.15am on Friday.

They were unable to provide any details about the patient.

WA Police have confirmed water police are also on the scene.

Surf Life Saving WA have reported a shark interaction in the area at 10.20am.

A witness near the scene told PerthNow that the incident had unfolded near Raleigh Road, near popular waterfront spot Hillarys Boat Harbour.

The beach has been closed to swimmers and people in the area have been advised to take caution.
