Emergency services are responding to a serious bus crash in Perth’s north, where five people are injured.

Just after 11am the vehicle slammed into a tree on Joondalup Drive in Wanneroo.

Firefighters, Police and St John WA paramedics are on scene.

A St John spokesperson told PerthNow they have sent eight ambulance crews, noting this is a very high number to be sent to a singular crash.

A man in his 50s has been taken to Joondalup Hospital under lights and sirens.

Four other patients, including a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 40s, a man in his 40s and a man in his 30s, are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson confirmed no one was trapped in the vehicle.

Police confirmed they also attended the scene and are investigating the crash.

Joondalup drive is closed between Burns Beach Road and Wanneroo Road.

Motorists are being told to seek an alternate route with traffic heavy in the area.
