AFL: With the minor premiership already secured, Fremantle will take some fresh faces to face Carlton, who will be looking to test their mettle after a Josh Fraser rejuvenation.

The Dockers have rested Jye Amiss, Sam Switkowski and Heath Chapman for their final home and away clash, with Tobyn Murray to make his AFL debut while Bailey Banfield will play his first game of the season.

Judd McVee also returns while Josh Fraser will coach his first game as a full-time coach after his incredible interim stint secured the Blues a wildcard berth.

More on the Cox injury

Blues hit the front

Carlton get a bit lucky as Brodie Kemp is giving a very soft 50m penalty after Judd McVee touched the ball after the mark.

But the Blues have continued to be the better side this quarter as he puts Carlton in front for the first time today.

CAR 5.6 (36) FRE 5.3 (33)

Brennan Cox is out

The Dockers defender has ice on his claf and is done for the day. That’s a huge blow ahead of finals.

End of Q1 FRE 5.2 (32) CAR 4.5 (29)

The Dockers burst out of blocks with four straight goals but Carlton did well to steady and then hit back with four of the last five goals.

Sam Walsh and Jagga Smith combined for 18 touches in the first quarter, with the Blues having 32 more touches overall which shows how much the Blues controlled the game after the first five minutes.

In bad news for the Dockers Brennan Cox has limped off to the bench and looks in trouble.

Silly from Cripps, then from Banfield

Jackson brings down Pittonet, who’s pinged holding the ball and then Cripps bumps the Freo ruck, who goes down easily but you can’t do that.

Fortunately for him Jackson misses.

Down the other end Bailey Banfield brings down Francis Evans after claiming the mark on the edge of 50 to give away his own 50m penalty and the Blues are back within a goal.

FRE 5.2 (32) CAR 4.4 (28)

Ainsworth makes it two in a row

Carlton have probably had the better have the past 10 minutes but have let some chances go begging.

But a wonderful field kick from Sam Walsh finds Ainsworth inside 50 who converts.

Blues hit back

Mitch McGovern misses his first attempt but Blues force a turnover in the middle and he gets it back and goes over the back to Harry McKay who gets his and Carlton’s first.

First four to the Dockers!

They are fast and furious at Marvel with their ball movement absolutely elite and the Blues can’t cope.

Josh Treacy keeps on the move to break away from Weitering to boot one from the square before Mason Cox dummies then hits Pat Voss on a lead who kicks his first.

FRE 4.0 (24) CAR 0.1 (1)

Oscar McDonald opens the scoring?!

Just the eighth goal of his career but playing as full forward he gets on a perfect lead to leave Weitering in the dust and convert from the set shot.

Brilliant start.
