Commonwealth Games: Live coverage of Day 5 action from Glasgow

Our final result for Day 5 as the clock ticks past 10.30pm in Glasgow is from the netball, where our Diamonds produced a predictably sweat-free 68-32 victory over African minnows Malawi.

OK, brace yourselves - here’s the list of all NINE Aussie gold medals from Day 5!

Ky Robinson held on in the rain to win the men’s 10,000m on the track.

Flynn Southam took over from Kyle Chalmers as men’s 100m freestyle champ in the pool, while Lani Pallister (800 free) and Jenna Forrester (200m IM) won as expected.

WA’s Iona Anderson added another gold medal for this meet, this time as part of the 4x100m mixed medley relay alongside Sam Williamson, Matt Temple and Meg Harris. Kirralee Hayes was also victorious in the women’s S13 50m freestyle.

And in the gymnastics arena, Brenna Scott (beam) and Jesse Moore (parallel bars) got the job done, before the late Eleanor Patterson victory in the women’s high jump.

A massive golden day in Glasgow for our Aussies!

It’s a gold-silver combo in the women’s high jump - but not in the way many expected!

Nicola Olyslagers was the favourite, but Eleanor Patterson has pipped her for the win after the former failed to clear 1.96m in her three attempts as the rain continues to fall.

It’s a fitting gold for Patterson, who won here at the 2014 Comm Games.

No more action in the pool or on track this evening, but there’s still a lot happening in Glasgow.

Australians Elanor Patterson and Nicola Olyslagers are flying in the women’s high jump, while the Diamonds have a commanding 52-22 lead over Malawi in the netball.

Australia’s mixed 4x100m medley relay team have won in a Games record 3min40.46sec!

Iona Anderson (backstroke), Sam Williamson (breaststroke), Matthew Temple (butterfly) and Meg Harris (freestyle) all produced astonishing swims.

That ties the record of 28 Commonwealth Games gold medals won in the pool from 2018 on the Gold Coast.

And now, Torrie Lewis has claimed bronze in the women’s 100m!

Another Australian record has been set by the 21-year-old, who was only one-hundreth of a second short of a silver medal.

The initial time had her in a dead heat with England’s Amy Hunt but her time was later confirmed to be 10.99sec.

New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs produced a 10.93sec effort to win in a shock.

It’s a second gold medal of the Commonwealth Games for Lani Pallister!

And the 400m gold medallist has set a Games record in the 800m, cruising to victory in 8min11.12sec.

Lachlan Kennedy is the Commonwealth Games 100m silver medallist!

An unbelievable effort from Australia’s fastest man, who was just barely pipped on the line by Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme in 9.83sec.

Kennedy’s 9.85 has smashed the previous Australian record of 9.93, set more than 20 years ago by Patrick Johnson.

Eddie Nketia’s 10.06 was good for sixth.

“I thought I won - old mate must’ve come flying through on the inside,” a delighted Kennedy told Channel Seven.

“I know I’ve got Australia back home supporting me - thank you guys, thank you so much.

“9.85 is crazy, that is nuts.

“We’ve got Torrie too, hopefully she can back it up, get another medal for the Aussies.”

Australians Henry Allan (53.93sec) and Isaac Cooper (54.48) have gone through their men’s 100m backstroke semifinals to qualify for the final.

The women’s 800m final is not far away, with Lani Pallister chasing another gold medal alongside compatriots Tiana Kritzinger and Molly Walker.

And we’re now gearing up for the 100m finals at Scotstoun Stadium.
