Robbie Fox 8: Tough match up on Jeremy Cameron and he stood up. Was one of few Swans to settle and defend with poise.

Chad Warner 7: Had a bad third term brain fade but provided run and spark. Was willing to take the game.

Luke Parker 7: Stood his ground around the contest as you would expect from but was overwhelmed by Cat numbers.

Tom Papley 7: Threw himself into the contest and was one of Sydney’s best in the bleak first half. Was sucked too far away from goals because of Geelong’s momentum.

Ryan Clarke 7: Far from the Swans’ worst. Had the job on Tom Stewart and did OK, winning his share of the ball.

Callum Mills 6: Tried to lead his team back. Got busy and desperate in the second term and kicked a big goal.

James Rowbottom 6: Went hard early when too many teammates didn’t. Faded later.

Will Hayward 5: Kicked an important first-term goal when desperately needed and was livelier than most teammates.

Isaac Heeney 5: Starved of chances and had to be shifted midfield to get him into the game. Kicked a useful second term goal.

Oliver Florent 5: Did try and take the game on and give some run in the second term but was under siege for much of the match.

Jake Lloyd 5: Spent much of the game on Tyson Stengle and had his hands full. Lacked the time to use the ball.

Errol Gulden 5: They needed his hard run and his knifing kicks to get through Geelong’s structure and they didn’t get much of either.

Dane Rampe 5: Part of the Swans defence that got caught on the hop and put on the back foot in the opening blitz.

Nick Blakey 4: Is usually a good user but lacked composure with the ball. They needed bounce and he delivered mistakes.

Tom Hickey 4: Got rag dolled twice by Tom Hawkins in early ruck contests for goals that set the Cats alight.

Paddy McCartin 4: Didn’t get much chance to intercept. There were too many Geelong attacks happening too quickly.

Justin McInerney 4: One of many of the younger Swans who looked like he was slow to settle. Rushed and knocked off the ball a few times when the heat was on.

Hayden McLean 4: Took a great one hander for a goal. The Swans were right to play him but should have left Sam Reid out.

Dylan Stephens 4: Struggled to find the ball before half time.

Lance Franklin 3: Lacked opportunity, lacked urgency and lacked impact with the few chances he had.

Tom McCartin 3: Hawkins’ first two goals weren’t a great start and then his third quarter was a nightmare.

Braeden Campbell 3: Med-sub who replaced Sam Reid after half time. At least he was fit.

Sam Reid 2: Didn’t look right. Shouldn’t have played.
