Finals footy is here as minor premiers Adelaide take on Collingwood to kick off September action.

Can the Crows defend their home in their finals since 2017, having dominated the home and away season?

They won an arm wrestle in the penultimate round of the home and away season over the Pies, despite Collingwood dominating the stats sheet.

The Pies have brought back Mason Cox while a sore-looking Nick Daicos was cleared fit to play, and they will need to lean on their September experience at a hostile Adelaide Oval.

That will be that

What a stunning performance from the Pies who almost move into premiership favourites after that. They only have to win two more games at the MCG.

Adelaide will need to do some soul-searching and rebound quickly, knowing they didn’t handle the occasion.

Up next Geelong and Brisbane tomorrow. Until then, goodbye.

Here’s the moments that matterred.

FULL TIME Collingwood 11.13 (79) Adelaide 8.7 (55)

A comprehensive victory in the end as Adelaide looked spooked on the big stage despite their strong end to the season.

Nick Daicos enormous, Jamie Elliott superb and Steele Sidebottom timeless you just can’t rule out Fly’s men.

For Adelaide, they will be hugely disappointed as their forward line was stifled and then panicked when the game was on the line.

They’ll get another chance but they looked a long way off the minor premiers.

ELLIOT WITH A FINAL MOMENT OF MAGIC

The ball dribbling forward it looks like the Crows have it covered but Elliott keeps his feet and Jackie Chans it out of mid-air to get his fourth major!

Game over

Adelaide are overcome with madness at the moment and have no idea how to use the ball.

Nick Daicos shows how you do it side-stepping several players to find Lachie Schultz.

His set shot misses but there’s no enough time left now.

Walker misses another chance

A rare mark inside 50 but Walker plays on and his effort around the corner doesn’t curl around enough.

Smith then blazes away to waste another chance. I don’t see how Crows find three goals from here.

Just kick the goal!

Thilthorpe is running towards goal with Moore the only one who can catch him.

But instead of chucking it on the boot Thilthorpe fires off a handball to Keane that doesn;t find the target and the attack breaks down.

Huge opportunity missed.

Final quarter underway

Adelaide win the centre clearance and the ball is locked in their forward 50.

But they can’t make it count and Collingwood nearly go end to end but is cut off at the last line.

Trouble for De Goey

He may have a nervous wait this week.
