Arson suspected after unit destroyed

Broome Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed one unit and damaged another yesterday.

The blaze broke out in the unit on Forrest Street in Old Broome at 9.45am yesterday before it was contained by volunteer firefighters.

The cost of the damage was about $300,000.

Police have taped off the area and arson squad detectives were expected to fly to Broome today.

Broome Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the fire or earlier in the day who saw any suspicious activity, persons or vehicles.
