Wet weather predicted to settle into the east coast through the coming week

A high pressure system which has been keeping wet weather away from large parts of the Australian continent is expected to ease throughout the week, creating wet weather conditions along the nation’s east coast. The Bureau of Meteorology has urged Sydneysiders to “enjoy the last bit of sun” in expectation of a week of sporadic showers. According to senior meteorologist Dean Narramore, showers are expected across a massive stretch of coastline. “We’re going to see showers return for much of the Queensland and NSW coastlines this week, which means we’ve got a week of showers pretty much right on down the entire seaboard,” Mr Narramore said. “That rainfall is unlikely to get further inland west of the ranges where are farming communities are, so showers picking up. Enjoy the last bit of sun in Sydney today.” The week is expected to be “pretty dry and mild to warm” across large parts of inland and Central Australia, although some areas of the NT and western Queensland are expected to endure a few patchy showers, which will eventually move down into South Australia. Mr Narramore said this kind of weather was “a little bit more unseasonable” but “not rare”. “Further westwards, WA is looking at a warm and dry week, although a cold front will start impacting southwest WA from midweek, bringing showers and gusty winds,” he said. “Nothing to fear, nothing high end, just light falls.” On Sunday, Sydney will hit a max of 23C and an overnight minimum of 15C going into Monday. Canberra is expecting a high of 21 and a chilly overnight low of 3C. Melbourne has been experiencing a colder, more overcast day, with a high of 17C and an expected overnight low of 19C, while Hobart will peak at 19C and fall to 10C overnight. Adelaide is similarly gloomy with a max of 19C and an overnight low of 10C. Temperatures in Brisbane are still clinging onto the last breaths of summer with a 25C max and a 16C overnight. Out west, Perth will hit a high of 25C on Sunday, with an overnight minimum sitting at a nice cool 12C. Darwin is expecting a max of 33C today and an overnight minimum of 25C.
