Cyclone Narelle: Storm forces postponement of Scarborough Beach Weekender music event until April 11-12

Cyclone Narelle has thwarted yet another event scheduled for this weekend, with Scarborough Beach Weekender forced into postponement due to impending weather conditions.
Scheduled to take place across both Saturday and Sunday, the live music showcase has been moved to the weekend of April 11-12 over safety concerns.
Featuring Aussie and New Zealand-based headliners Xavier Rudd, Thornbird, L.A.B, and Corella, the display was billed as the first large-scale live concert experience to hit the coastal hotspot’s amphitheatre in more than a decade.
On Wednesday, local event producer Palace J Entertainment advised fans the event would go on as planned unless “conditions are deemed unsafe”.
And on Thursday evening, organisers announced the bitter sweet development.
“As fun as dancing in the rain would’ve been, the safety of our patrons, artists, and staff is always our top priority. With the weather conditions this weekend, it’s simply not safe for us to go ahead with the shows,” a statement read.
“But... it’s not all bad news. With the incredible support and flexibility of the City of Stirling, along with our amazing and supporting acts, we’ve secured new dates just two weeks away!”

Organisers told ticket holders they need not act, with all tickets valid for the new dates, including hotel bookings made in association with the event.
Refunds will be made available through Oztix, with instructions sent to ticket holders via email.
“We know this isn’t the news everyone was hoping for but trust us, we didn’t want this either. But Narelle had other plans and ultimately, your safety comes first, and this is the right call,” the statement continued.
Performers threw their support behind the decision to re-schedule, grateful the event hadn’t been canned altogether.
“And the show goes on! Love your work gang. Let not the weather Gods stamp us out 🖤,” Finn Alexander and the Forever Party wrote.
Fellow supporting act SUB-TRIBE added: “Well handled team!! Tough call but safety first❤️ Absolute legends”.
The postponement comes after American country singer Jordan Davis was forced to relocate his outdoor ICF Summer Factory show this Saturday night to the fully enclosed RAC Arena.
