A crash in Burekup, 165km south of Perth has left one man dead and another fighting for life.

Police say that at around 4:05pm on Friday a Mazda BT-50 dual cab on Henty Road collided with a LDV van on South Western Highway.

The 30-year-old male driver of the LDV van died from his injuries at the scene.

The 33-year-old male driver of the Mazda BT-50 sustained critical injuries and was conveyed to Bunbury Regional Hospital before being transferred on Saturday to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Major Crash investigators are conducting an examination of the scene and are appealing for any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
