A youth-support organisation celebrated the renaming of its Employment and Education Housing facility with an open day last week.

MADALAH Limited manages the EEH program in Broome, with the shared accommodation renamed Nyirrwa Murrgurlayi, Yawuru for “a house for the purpose of work”.

The organisation was granted a five-year contract by the WA Housing Authority in January to continue to provide supported accommodation for people accessing work or education in Broome.

EEH manager Joska Nayna spent the day showing guests around the newly renamed house and explaining the role mentors at MADALAH played in encouraging the success of residents.

Health worker and resident Amelia O’meara-Chaquebor said she enjoyed the day and the support she had received from the EEH program.

“MADALAH have been so welcoming to me since I moved here from Derby,” she said.

“I can do what I want to do and they have made me feel so proud of myself when I achieve my goals.”
