Mental health was the topic of discussion around Broome last week, as the town embraced a nationwide concept aimed at raising awareness.

Australian Red Cross organised a wellbeing expo at Town Beach as part of Mental Health Week, which saw hundreds turn out for a day of activities, food, live music and education.

Among those who set up stalls around the popular Broome spot were representatives from Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service, Headspace, Men’s Outreach Service and the Department of Human Services.

Red Cross Kimberley regional manager Loretta Bin Omar said she was glad the day saw such a successful turnout.

“Mental health is everybody’s business,” she said.

“There are many services to help people who are not doing too well.”\
