Driver of grain truck escapes with minor injuries after Narrogin roundabout crash, road closures in place

A truck driver has had a lucky escape after he rolled his grain truck off the edge of a bridge into a creek bed near the centre of Narrogin on Tuesday morning. The crash was reported just after 10.30am on Tuesday, with emergency services rushing to the scene at the roundabout intersecting Great Southern Highway, Northam-Cranbrook Road and Kipling Street. A St John WA spokesperson said the driver of the truck, a man in his 30s, was taken to Narrogin Health Service under normal road conditions for treatment of minor injuries. He was not trapped in the wreckage, and the Narrogin Fire and Rescue Service attended to help clean up the scene, including a significant fuel spill. The truck, which was hauling two trailers of grain, remained on its side at 11am, with its load spilling on to the roadside and into a creek adjacent to the road. Main Roads closed a southbound section of Northam-Cranbrook Road from the roundabout at Kipling Street, with the road still closed at 11am and drivers told to find an alternative route through the town. Police also remained on the scene investigating the incident.
