Top Broome businesses recognised

Unseasonal rain did little to dampen the enthusiasm of about 100 people who joined outstanding performers from the Broome business world last Friday.
The 2016 Broome Small Business Awards, held at Pearl Luggers, went ahead under a garden marquee as the rain poured down.
But rather than duck for cover, many guests took the advice of MC Noel Brunning and kicked off their footwear for fun.
The evening was this year organised by the Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry after the restructure of previous administrators, the Broome Small Business Centre, which has since amalgamated with Kimberley Small Business Support.
Small Business Development Corporation chairwoman Kitty Prodonovich was a special guest of the occasion to celebrate Broome’s most innovative and successful businesses.
BCCI president Rhondda Chappell said the calibre of award entrants was outstanding.
“I’d like to offer a special congratulation to Best IT and Business Solutions for taking out two categories — their business is a true inspiration to anyone seeking opportunities in Broome,” she said.
“Thank you to everyone who applied for an award. Now that you’ve done the initial leg work, we hope you’ll consider re-applying next year.”
She said applications for the 2017 Small Business Awards would re-open in December this year to allow more time for businesses wishing to apply.
