Katanning Netball Association’s junior and senior divisions played their final round over the weekend, with mid-ladder teams fighting to secure a last-minute finals spot.

With top teams on the ladder pretty settled in their spots, it was the middle teams battling it out trying to bump each other down the ladder to make the semifinals.

Kojonup Sapphires kept top position with a win against Nutrien Firebirds in the juniors.

Although the Firebirds battled hard they fell short to Sapphires, 45-38.

McIntosh Mystics played their last game for the season and took on second-placed NAB Lightning.

NAB, not showing any remorse, won 50 goals to the Mystics’ 25.

QFH Vixens however, put on a mighty show against ANZ Swifts.

It was a close game and with a low-scoring finish it was the Vixens that managed an extra couple of goals to push them across the line. It ended the Swifts’ season with scores at 30-28.

Seniors came in hot and heavy for their final round, with all teams ready to battle out those ladder positions.

In A1 action, Broomehill put their all into it, knowing it was their last game for the season. But Olympians 1 came in equally feisty, managing to sink goal after goal and took the game 47-29.

Allstars 1 had a little battle on their hands until they found their rhythm in the second quarter against Cardinals Force.

Even with Allstars taking a comfortable win 59-30, Cardinals’ percentage earned them a spot in the semifinals.

Always a super fun game, Kojonup smashed the scoreboard with a 71-29 result.

In A2, Allstars 2 came up against Olympians 2.

A speedy game going both ways, Allstars’ goals were unstoppable, and they took the win 62-40, and both teams made it through to the semifinals.

Kojonup 2 went head to head with Te Taitonga 2, and it was a game of percentages for Te Taitonga for their ladder position.

Kojonup put their foot down harder to grab a 52-31 win, and Te Taitonga only just made it into the semis.

Olympians 3 wanted so badly to end on a winning high. With that in mind they took on Dumbleyung and worked hard all four quarters to claim a win for their last game, 43-37.

This loss was Dumbleyung’s last chance for finals and unfortunately missed out.

A3 had another battle to claim a position in the top four, with Te Taitonga 3 taking to the court against Cardinals Force.

Goal for goal, intercept after intercept, it came down to the last few minutes.

Te Taitonga 3 found their form and pumped some extra goals in in the dying minutes, winning in a great tussle 39-32.

Allstars 3 almost lost their way against Cardinals Phoenix.

With a lot of mid-court play, the game was low-scoring on both sides. Ending Cardinals’ season, Allstars got a few goals up in the second half and held their buffer until the final whistle, winning 39-23.
