Broomehill edged past Tambellup in a Great Southern Cricket Association thriller on Saturday, with the Bandicoots clinching the winning run with just two balls left in Tambellup.

Set a target of 190 to win by Tambellup, Lewis Barritt struck the last blow on the fourth ball of the final over, sneaking a single off Bayley Drew to get the Bandicoots home and dry.

That last over included some additional drama as the Bandicoots lost a man, run out by Leo Cunningham, but Lomas Ugle drew them level before Barritt grabbed the last-gasp glory.

Tambellup had won the toss and batted, making steady progress throughout their innings.

Openers Connor Hawkins and Flynn Cristinelli put on 37 runs before Cristinelli was caught by Jack Batchelor off the bowling of Ben Holmes for 17.

Ben Taylor took up the cause with a knock of 35 off 36 balls until he and Hawkins were dispatched by Rohan Bignell to leave Tambellup on 3-103.

Jedd Herbert was caught and bowled by Barritt for 19 but Nathan Wilmott (25) and Cunningham (40) made useful contributions.

The tail barely wagged, but Tambellup finished on 8-189 to lay down a challenge to Broomehill.

Barritt took 3-31, while Bignell’s two scalps cost 16 runs.

The Bandicoots’ reply was anchored by Max Jordison, who cracked 50 off 90 balls and was helped along by Mac Crichton, who notched 37 before he was run out by Herbert.

However, it was a bit wobbly elsewhere until Barritt came in, and it was his unbeaten knock of 43 off 38 balls which was the clincher.

Hawkins did his best with the ball for Tambellup, claiming 3-40.

Kendenup got the better of Katanning Wanderers, claiming a three-wicket win in Kendenup.

Wanderers were all out for 142 with Luke Stathy top-scoring with 42, while Kris Norris and Adam Edwards chipped in with 19 runs apiece well down the order.

Jared Ballard (2-11), Sebastian Ballard (2-13) and Bradley Scherell (2-15) shared the workload with the ball for Kendenup.

Sebastian Ballard had a good day with the bat too, walloping six fours and four sixes on his way to 63 off 39 balls.

Clinton Gilbert, unbeaten with 29 off 40 balls, was the other key contributor as they reached 7-143 after 25.3 overs.

It was another tough week for Australs North, who were all out for 41 against Kojonup.

The Lions’ total was elevated by 15 extras as no one reached double figures with the bat, while Lee Lucev dominated with the ball, taking four wickets off two overs without conceding a run in the clash at Kojonup.

The Cougars’ reply was a seven-over stroll, although Arnold Dean did his best to stave off the inevitable, taking 2-7 to be the Lions’ best bowler.
