Nollamara fire: Residents on Kweda Way evacuated after home goes up in flames

A street in Perth’s north-east was forced to evacuate in the early hours of Thursday amid a neighbouring unit going up in flames.

Neighbours could be seen frantically fleeing their homes at about 1.43am when a unit on Kweda Way in Nollamara was engulfed by a destructive blaze.

One neighbour used his garden hose in an attempt to reduce the flames before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Police were also there assisting neighbours who were in shock and suffering from smoke inhalation.

It is understood no one was taken to hospital.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services are investigating the cause of the blaze which caused significant damage to the unit.
