Jacob Scott Kelly: Husband of mum behind bars for medical child abuse hit with charge over judge death threat

The husband of a woman at the centre of a bizarre child abuse case has been charged after allegedly making a death threat towards her sentencing judge. Jacob Scott Kelly, the partner of Sarah Jayne Kelly, has been slapped with one count of making a statement creating false apprehension as to existence of threats or danger. It relates to a call he made to his wife in Melaleuca Women’s Prison, where she awaits sentencing in the District Court of WA for engaging in reckless conduct that may have resulted in a child under her care suffering. At a home detention bail hearing in August, Judge Laurie Levy said that Mr Kelly told his wife in the recorded call: “Unless he lets you out, I’ll get some mates to do stuff to him”. Mr Kelly then allegedly sent an email to the court saying: “I’m extremely sorry for .... saying that I would get two friends to take you out”. WA Police confirmed Mr Kelly, 31 from Baldivis, had been charged by officers from State Security Investigation Group. He is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on October 23. Ms Kelly’s child abuse charge relates to her taking one of their four children to multiple doctors in WA, Queensland and Victoria insisting the boy suffered serious medical issues, causing him to be subjected to nasogastric tubes and anti-epilepsy medication. She has also pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice over a fake doctor’s letter she provided to the court claiming she had cancer and was undergoing radiation therapy. Kelly is due to be sentenced on October 8 and front Perth Magistrates Court.
