VideoDFES has released terrifying on-the-ground footage from the Eagle Bay bushfire near Dunsborough in WA's South West.

An out-of-control bushfire has ravaged one of WA’s tourist hotspots in the South West, with locals and holiday-makers trapped in Eagle Bay as the fire burns through more than 200ha.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued an emergency warning for those in the Eagle Bay townsite, including Meelup Regional Park and the area bounded by Cape Naturaliste Road to the north and west, Okapa Rise to the south, Wardandi Drive and Willanup Rise.

WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has described the Eagle Bay fire as a "very serious situation."

"We want people to listen to the warnings... and we are expecting a wind change this afternoon which could also adversely impact on the way the fire has gone to date," he said.
