Zak Austin carries Fyre to victory against Bushchooks in Broome touch qualifying final clash

Rivalry was the theme of the night at the father McMahon Oval on Thursday as the Broome Touch competition entered its second week of finals.

In division one, Fyre took down the Bushchooks in their qualifying final clash with Fyre winning by just two points.

It looked like Fyre was down and out as the half-time bell rang, having scored just one try to the Bushchooks’ five, but Fyre launched an impressive counterattack in the second half scoring a massive 10 tries to secure the win, 11 to 9.

Zak Austin was a powerhouse for Fyre scoring five tries in the second half. Emily Moore, Bree Bannister, Ben Lye and Ellen Stapleton tied for best try scorer for the Bushchooks, making two tries each.

Then the Allstars took home the win in their qualifying final match against the Runaways, winning by six tries, 16 to 10.

Ayeesha Skeen tied with Pepita Wilson for best try scorer for the Allstars with both coming away from the match with four tries each.

Hayden McLeod and Paul Boon tied for best scorer for the Runaways both scoring three tries each.

In division two, the Triple 0‘s dominated ARAC Attack in their semifinal match-up, winning by 7 tries, 10 to 3.

Amanda Gatt was the top try scorer for ARAC Attack making two over the course of the match. Blake Rowlinson was the best scorer for the Triple 0’s scoring four tries.

The Animals stole the win from Good Palpations by just one try in their semifinal clash, 7 to 6.

Andrew Nguyen and Ruey Domingo were the best try scorers for Good Palpations making two tries each. Jorani Pigram, Emily Langron and Lindsay Jackson tied for the best try scorer for the Animals, scoring two tries each.
