A dozen Broome locals have graduated from the Digital Workplace Job Ready program, a free pre-employment pathway helping participants find administrative and customer service jobs quickly and effectively to tackle workforce shortages.

Delivered by Vocational Training Services, the program provides training in customer service skills, organising data and records, producing documents and the use of several software applications to help participants be “job ready” for a wide range of business support roles.

Local businesses and organisations such as the Shire of Broome, WA Country Health and Aged Care Services, Magabala Books, Broome Visitor Centre, Kimberely Port Authority, Horizon Power, Vocational Training Services and Kimberley MLA Divina D’Anna’s office provided five-day work placement opportunities, exposing students to local employment opportunities.

“It was great to attend the Broome graduation ceremony for the 12 dedicated local students who successfully completed the Digital Workplace Job Ready Program,” Ms D’Anna said.

“Delivered fee-free in partnership with Vocational Training Services, Job Pathways and the Department of Training and Workforce Development WA, the Job Ready Program equips students with digital and customer service skills to connect them with future employment opportunities.

“Congratulations to all of the graduates. It was lovely to meet you and chat about your experiences with the program and your exciting next steps.”
