Crocodile sighting shuts down Broome’s Simpson Beach, Demco Beach, Town Beach, Streeters Jetty, Entrance Point

A massive 4m saltwater crocodile sighting has forced the closure of five popular Broome beaches.
The saltwater crocodile was sighted on Wednesday at Simpson Beach, heading east toward Demco Beach.
In response, the Shire of Broome has shut down Simpson Beach, Demco Beach, Town Beach, Streeters Jetty, and Entrance Point.
The closures are expected to remain in place for at least 24 hours, with Parks and Wildlife Service rangers actively patrolling the area.
Residents and visitors are being warned to stay well away from the water’s edge and remain vigilant. Authorities are reminding everyone to “Be Crocwise” — a safety campaign urging caution in crocodile territory, particularly in the Kimberley region.
Sightings should be reported to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Broome on 9195 5500.
