Broome touch teams were hot on each others tail in division one on Thursday night at Father McMahon Oval with some close matches going down to the wire.

First up, the Bushchooks took on the Pirates and hijacked the match from them to take home the win.

The Bushchooks managed to outscore the Pirates by two ties in the first half, thanks to efforts from Ben Lye and Sarah Ludowici who scored two tries each, while the Pirates were propped up by Ashlee O’Connell’s two tries, leaving the team to finish the first half on three tries.

The Pirates then hit their stride in the second half scoring a total of seven tries but the Bushchooks managed to stay just in front scoring eight tries, winning them the match by three tries, 13 to 10.

Elwood Gray was the prime scorer for the Bushchooks, scoring three over the course of the match while the Pirates’ Ashlee O’Connell, Abbe Orrick, Elli Cooper and Kristopher Dunstan tied for the best scorer for the Pirates with two tries each.

Then the Stingers defeated the Allstars in a clincher, winning by just one try.

The Stingers started off strong with Kristy Woodward dominating the play and scoring all eight of the Stingers tries in the first half while the Allstars spread their tries across their team, making a total of six.

But the tables were turned in the second half with the Allstars taking over the ground and making a total of five tries while the Stingers dropped back, only managing to score four tries.

But despite the Allstars efforts to chase down the Stingers score, they ultimately lost, 11 to 12.

The Runaways managed to take home the win in their clash against Fyre.

Fyre was on the back foot in the first half with the Runaways scoring six tries to the Fyre’s two, with Seth Lovell and Imogen John scoring twice each for the Runaways.

The Runaways continued to outscore Fyre in the second half, but only just, with Fyre pulling out all the stops and scoring a total of five tries to the Runaways six, losing the match by five tries, 12 to 7.

Jacob Predo for Fyre was the best scorer for his team, making a total of three over the course of the match.

In the second division, the Animals destroyed the Scoregasms, more than doubling their score, 13 to 6.

The Untouched proved worthy of their name, defeating the Exploders by three tries, 11 to 8.

Good Palpations defeated the Triple 0’s by just two points, 8 to 6.
