Three businesses will be representing the Margaret River region when they go up against the best in the State at the Regional Business Excellence Awards next month.

Common Ground Trails, Cape to Cape Explorer Tours and LifeStorm were this week confirmed as finalists for the April 18 awards.

Margaret River Business Network chief executive Annie McFie welcomed having three members in the mix with regional WA’s most worthy businesses.

“The recognition is a testament to the dedication, innovation and hard work of our local businesses and provides a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their exceptional products and services to a wider audience,” she said.

“I look forward to cheering them on at the gala event in Perth.”

The three businesses said they were excited, honoured and well-prepared for the awards night, which follows their wins at the most recent Margaret River Business Network awards.

Explorer Tours boss Gene Hardy said the finalist’s nod was a testament to the “passionate team of hiking guides, drivers, catering and accommodation staff who make up the business”.

“We absolutely love getting people out in nature and experiencing the wonders of the Cape to Cape Track and the Margaret River region,” he said.

“And that’s reflected in each and every one of our staff members who have such a passion for our environment and for giving our customers an amazing experience.”

LifeStorm’s Chris Johnson said his new mental health mentoring business had exceeded expectations thanks to the support of the Margaret River community.

“People say this is exactly what we as a community need,” he said.

“Now to receive further recognition, we are extremely grateful and know we are heading in the right direction.”

Common Ground’s David Willcox said taking his business to the State level was a great honour.

“(It) is testament to our amazing team who are creating exceptional play spaces in order to get more people outdoors enjoying amazing trail and bike park experiences across Australia,” he said.

Mr Hardy said many regional businesses had faced a tough few years during the pandemic.

“Our region continues to punch above its weight, particularly in the ecotourism field, and we’re proud to be part of a thriving small business community with a focus on sustainability,” he said.

Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry of WA chief executive Kitty Prodonovich said the standard of entries was exceptional.

“To be able to celebrate and recognise their contributions and achievements at our gala event is something we are incredibly proud to be delivering,” she said.
