West Coast Eagles have slipped to a third straight loss in their first AFLW campaign, falling to Greater Western Sydney Giants at Blacktown International Sportspark last Sunday.

Denmark product Parris Laurie was again among the Eagles’ best contributors, working tirelessly in the middle in the 28-point defeat.

Laurie was named in the best players as she finished with 18 hit-outs, eight disposals, two marks and four tackles as her side went down, 2.2 (14) to 6.6 (42).

Pingrup’s Belinda Smith was part of the Eagles’ defensive unit that conceded six goals. Now at her third AFLW club, Smith collected 10 possessions, took three marks and laid four tackles.

Albany defender Sophie McDonald had her hands full opposed to Giant Rebecca Privitelli, who kicked three majors, as the teenager ended the day with five disposals.

The Eagles sit at the bottom of conference B, winless from their opening three games of the women’s competition.

They are at home on Saturday against Western Bulldogs, starting at 4.10pm at Leederville Oval, and then face Melbourne on the road on March 8 in a fortnight that will decide their finals hopes.
