South Perth Eternal Energy Healing and Wellness studio bans men after ‘inappropriate’ behaviour towards staff

A masseuse has banned men from her South Perth studio after male clients made her staff uncomfortable with relentless “groaning” and requests to remove their underwear. The owner of Eternal Energy Healing and Wellness, Kessley Ham, revealed her studio is now a women-only establishment via social media on Wednesday but told The West Australian she wished she had done it sooner “I have tried to be inclusive but it is just not worth it really in the end,” the 39-year-old said. “It’s just not safe for me or my staff.” Eternal Energy Healing and Wellness opened about a year ago but Ms Ham said her staff only recently began feeling “sick” from male client behaviour. “I have always dealt with the inquiries that come through from Instagram and Facebook, it is just constant messages like do you provide slow sensual massages,” she said. “And I know what they’re talking about when they say that kind of stuff they are looking for a happy ending and they ask if the massage is unclothed. “These phone calls and texts are multiple times a day and it just kind of makes my insides clench every time I would get one that would be inappropriate. “I’ve taken a step back from being hands-on and I am just running the business, I could always handle it but now that it’s my staff who are uncomfortable and having to deal with it, I’m not having it around.” Ms Ham said some of her staff are in their 20s and have been made to feel very uncomfortable when working alone in the Charles Street studio late at night. “We had one man that was riding around on the table making very inappropriate sounds like he was having an orgasm and making constant jokes about his underwear getting in the way,” she said. “It made the masseuse just really uncomfortable and she just wanted him out of here immediately. “It hasn’t been like a direct touch or anything, it’s just always the alluding to something more but it makes you tense up. “As soon as you go into the full-body massage the comments are just relentless. . . . and the constant groaning would make anyone uncomfortable.” Ms Ham said she would honour any current bookings for male clients and any gift cards that were purchased for a male.
