Holland America Line has dramatically increased its capacity for the Antarctica and South America 2027–28 season.

It has just announced that Nieuw Amsterdam will replace Oosterdam in late 2027 — the first time the ship has sailed the region.

A HAL spokesperson says: “With more space, additional stateroom options and an elevated guest experience, Nieuw Amsterdam brings added opportunities for guests to explore South America’s vibrant cultures, dramatic fjords and the breathtaking beauty of Antarctica.”

All 2027–28 South America itineraries, including voyages featuring a four-day Antarctic Experience, will be available for booking from February 24, 2026.

Anyone booked on Oosterdam will hear directly from HAL.
