The Australian Government has taken its “do not travel” warning off the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
It’s good news for Emirates and Qatar Airways — and WA travellers using Dubai and Doha to connect them to the rest of the world. With “war is over” and the downgrade, travel insurance remains valid.
And the Australian Travel Industry Association is calling the downgrade to “reconsider your need to travel” a win for Australian travellers.
ATIA chief executive Dean Long says: “For many Australians, these hubs are the connecting points that get them to the UK, Europe, India and Africa.
“In seeking a travel advisory level commensurate with the reality of travel as a transiting passenger, ATIA was looking to ensure transiting passengers had all the benefits of travel insurance while on the ground.”
Qatar Airways today issued a statement outlining that it is steadily expanding to more than 160 gateways. A spokesperson says: “Starting today, the airline is returning to 26 destinations in key global markets.”
