Microsoft has confirmed that in weeks, users will be unable to use a version of the Outlook app, with an urgent message issued for users worldwide.

Outlook Lite, the Microsoft email app for Android users, will cease to function from May 25, 2026.

The app had been “retired” from October, 2025, however, users have been able to continue accessing and using the app as normal.

Now, they are being warned that they will soon lose all access to Outlook Lite completely.

“The Outlook Lite app will be retired starting October 6th, 2025. Existing users can continue using the app for a limited time before full retirement,” the Microsoft website says.

“To continue enjoying a secure and feature-rich email experience, we recommend switching to Outlook Mobile.”

The change was reportedly made for safety and security reasons.

Tech outlet Neowin said “Microsoft has locked in (the) final death date for Outlook Lite on Android,” adding that users will “officially lose all mailbox access” on May 25, 2026.

Outlook Lite was never offered to iOS users. The Lite version was designed to offer a similar product to what Apple users could access that would function on lower powered Android devices.

Microsoft wont be deleting accounts, however, if Android users want to access their mailboxes and calendar items, they will need to use the newer Outlook Mobile app.
