West Coast Training Notes: Eagles defender not sighted as skipper Liam Duggan watches from sidelines
West Coast got a rare main training session at Optus Stadium as they prepare for their final game of the season against Sydney on Saturday. Here’s what caught our eye ...
Ryan Alright?
West Coast forward Liam Ryan has been in the spotlight for much of this week because of his uncertain future, but he raised eyebrow when he came to the sidelines.
Ryan appeared to be getting some work on his calf early on but he came back out to continue to do work ahead of what could be his final game for the Eagles should he seek a trade elsewhere.

The 28-year-old has kicked 22 goals this season — only one behind fellow forward Jamie Cripps — with their final game this weekend.
Leadership Matters
There were several interested onlookers at the session, including captain Liam Duggan, who is unavailable for the final game because he is serving a two-match suspension.
While Duggan cannot play, the defender was seen helping out on the sidelines and still doing his part to lead the young Eagles who are going to finish their tough 2025 season.

Injured forward-ruck Archer Reid was also spotted watching on after he was sidelined with a toe injury.
Forward Jake Waterman continues to do a power of fitness work, doing a lot of running with Geelong premiership defender Harry Taylor before his teammates even hit the track.
Maric Missing
While there were plenty of players out on the track there was one glaring omission in defender Ryan Maric.
The 20-year-old has been looking sore in recent weeks and was battling a cork last week but still took to the field against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday when he finished with 26 touches.
Maric is one of only three players alongside stand-in skipper Liam Baker and full-back Reuben Ginbey to play every game this season.
First-year midfielder Tom Gross trained strongly early as he looks for a recall after battling a calf issue last weekend.
Numbers Swap
Harley Reid might be sidelined with injury at the moment but his famed No.9 still appeared on the track.
Forward Tyler Brockman was sporting the guernsey during the session instead of his usual No.10, which interestingly was worn by Malakai Champion.

Reid has not played since the round 20 western derby defeat to Fremantle and is the source of contract speculation as the Eagles weigh up whether to re-sign the No.1 draftee on a big deal.
The 20-year-old is coming back from a syndesmosis injury but is set to be available for pre-season when they return in November.
