You just have to be in it to win it, thanks to The Game and Mazda, with Jose Horn walking away with a brand new Mazda BT-50 despite confessing to having one of his worst tipping seasons.

Horn walked away with The Game’s ‘Just for Playing Prize’ just for participating in the AFL season.

A seasoned tipper of nearly two decades, Horn was somewhat sheepish that his biggest prize came amid one of his poorer seasons.

“I was by myself and got the call, and I had no one to celebrate with, so I just started laughing cause I found it so funny,” he said

“I was absolutely at sea this year, because I had such a bad tipping year, it feels quite surreal to win something.

“I’ve won tipping comps before, and it’s hard work I knew pretty early on this year I wasn’t going to be taking out any of the honourable places, so to walk away with something, it’s pretty funny.

“I think the title Just for Playing is perfectly suited to my situation this year.”

Horn admits he is still undecided on how to use his new prize, but hopes it could open the door for new experiences.

“It opens the door to potentially doing some fun things with it and enjoying it the way it’s intended,” he said

“We’re keeping an open mind and hopefully we do have some adventures with it, as much preparation as I thought I made in my mind around getting the car, nothing prepares you for the physical thing in your life.

“It’s an awesome bit of kit, it’s such a cool thing.”

Horn also said the win had only made him more determined to tackle The Game again and earn proper bragging rights by winning the overall competition.

“I’ve been tipping for the better part of 20 years, and as much as winning this car is incredible and by far the best prize I’ve ever won. I think I would still really love to win one of the major competitions outright,” he said

“But that would be even more awesome. I feel like that takes a special talent.”
