It appears Melbourne are not ready to say goodbye to one of their premiership stars, with newly minted Eagle Trent Rivers still the face of their 2027 calendar.

Rivers was traded to West Coast as part of a deal that also brought Demon Jack Viney to the club, ending a seven-year stint that included the 2022 premiership in just his second season.

The West Australian product donned the blue and gold for the first time this week after touring the Eagles facilities, saying it was a dream come true.

“It’s my childhood club. Putting on the jersey today, I got a little bit excited. It was pretty cool,” he said.

“Seeing inside the four walls is pretty special. I got to do it through the Origin period, but to see it in-house, meet all the people, it’s been pretty special.

“I’m really looking forward to being here for the next period of my life.”

However, while Rivers is clearly looking forward, the Demons have yet to move on, with Rivers still Mr January on their official 2027 calendar.

Available from the AFL store for $19.99, the 25-year-old will not only be the first player fans see when they open the calendar, but, worse still, he is front and centre on the cover between Max Gawn and Kysaiah Pickett.

Rivers isn’t the only former Demon still being offered as merchandise, with bobbleheads for Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca also still available, though at a discounted rate.

Both midfielders left the team at the end of 2025, but it appears the club has yet to clear their backlog of merchandise, with a golden bobblehead one of three Petracca offerings still for sale.

The Demons will hopefully update their calendar in time for Christmas before Rivers can become a stocking stuffer for Demons fans.
