How to watch the Cox Plate live and free on Seven and 7plus

The 2025 Spring Racing Carnival has come alive and the best place to see one of Australia’s most prestigious race days is live and free is on Seven and 7plus Sport.
After an unforgettable Caulfield Cup and The Everest, racing hits Moonee Valley on Saturday for Cox Plate Day, while in Sydney it’s Spring Champion Stakes Day.

- Saturday, 1 November – Rosehill Gardens: Golden Eagle Day
- Tuesday, 4 November – Royal Randwick: The Big Dance
- Saturday, 8 November – Rosehill Gardens: Five Diamonds Ladies Day
- Saturday, 15 November – Caulfield: C.F. Orr Stakes Day and Newcastle: The Newcastle Herald Hunter Day
- Saturday, 22 November – Cranbourne: Ladbrokes Cranbourne Cup Day; Kembla Grange: The Illawarra Mercury The Gong Day, Sunshine Coast: Swiss Ace and Ascot: Swan Draught Railway Stakes Day
- Saturday, 29 November – Caulfield: Caulfield Spring Finale, Rosehill: Festival Stakes and ATC Cup, Ascot: MCA Polytrack Winterbottom Stakes Day and Doomben: Tattersall’s Race Day
Australia’s pre-eminent sports broadcaster, Bruce McAvaney, will again lead racing’s No.1 team, joined by 7Racing’s Emma Freedman, Jason Richardson, Katelyn McDonald and Lizzie Jelfs.
Throughout the spring, viewers will also be treated to guest appearances from former Godolphin head trainer James Cummings, one of world racing’s leading trainers, alongside Seven’s House of Wellness co-host and Hawthorn AFL legend and Brownlow medallist, Shane Crawford.
Seven’s head of horse racing, Joel Starcevic, said: “There’s no greater stage for thoroughbred racing than the Spring Carnival, and we’re thrilled to showcase the sport at its highest level, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
“This year, Bruce McAvaney returns to lead our coverage, alongside Jason Richardson, Lizzie Jelfs, Emma Freedman and Katelyn Mallyon.
“We’re also delighted to welcome James Cummings and Shane Crawford to our star-studded stable across October and November,” he said.
“Our 7Horse Racing cameras were in Hong Kong in September to capture the world’s best sprinter, Ka Ying Rising, return to the racetrack ahead of his Everest mission, and we are incredibly excited to share these quality stories with our viewers.
“The Cox Plate shapes as one of the highlights, with Via Sistina chasing back-to-back wins and James McDonald eyeing a fourth consecutive victory, while closing in on the all-time Australian record for Group 1 triumphs.
