Business is booming for professional tattoo artist Nathan Richards, with the Freo faithful lining up to get some purple ink.

A long time Dockers fan, the Peth-based illustrator and cartoonist has fans knocking down his door to permanently pledge their support ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster grand final against the Lions.

Unveiling his designs at Optus following Fremantle’s finals win over Geelong, Richards was overwhelmed with the support he received.

“I was surprised at the reaction,” he said.

“Just (the other day) I did the moose design, and then did the little wharfie running with the anchor, and had an influx of people wanting to get some stuff in the upcoming weeks.

“It’s really cool putting the visuals of Freo on people, because I feel like the Dockers you don’t really see that stuff, I’m sure if we had the success of a Victorian team you would see fun tattoos all the time.

“It’s cool to put a little bit out there back into the Freo community . . . and it’s cool to see so many people in WA getting behind a WA artist.

Richards some while some were keen to get inked now, many were booking in to get a touch of Flagmantle if the side went on to win their maiden premiership.

“When I did the two designs they said ‘If they win the flag we’ll (come back) for a ‘26’,” Richards said.

While Richards offers a number of designs for the wharfie supporters, it’s the Alex Pearce-inspired Moose that has proven the most popular so far.

But Richards hinted at more player inspired tats on the horizon.

“There’s a few Dockers that have names which sound pretty fun visually for tattoos,” he said.

“Prancing Pony, The Unicorn, and then the Big Cohuna.

“People have DM’d me, they want to see mermaids with anchors.”
