It was a baptism of fire for Fremantle’s draftees on Saturday as the new Dockers were put through their paces on a scorching morning in Perth.

Taking to King’s Park for a pre-season training session, Victorian pair Cooper Simpson and Ollie Murphy and South Australian Jack Delean got a taste of life in WA.

The interstate trio were introduced to their new teammates before the team got stuck into a brutal hills sprint session as the temperature climbed.

A bulked-up Neil Erasmus was among the first-to-fourth-year players pushing through the tough conditions, while star ruck Luke Jackson appeared eager to get stuck into his second pre-season in purple.

According to the club, vice-captain and this year’s Doig Medallist Caleb Serong brought the group into a huddle following the session.

He urged the first-to-fourth-year players to set the standards for the senior players’ return to training on Monday.

Simpson (pick 35) and Murphy (41) touched down in Perth on Friday afternoon, with Dockers legend Matthew Pavlich handing over his fabled No.29 to the Dockers’ first selection in the draft.

Pavlich handed a backpack emblazoned with the famous number to Simpson at the airport, which was seen as the 18-year-old arrived at Kings Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, local pick-up Odin Jones was spotted at Fremantle training on Thursday, 24 hours after being selected as a rookie.

It comes after the club applied to place Sebit Kuek (ACL) and Josh Corbett (hip) on the long-term injury list to free up two lists spots ahead of the pre-season supplementary selection period.

The West Australian revealed the Dockers have invited Woodville West Torrens forward Max Beattie to train with the club, while Former Essendon rookie Patrick Voss is reportedly also in the mix for a train-on spot.
