Fremantle have ended their Adelaide hoodoo in emphatic fashion as the Dockers smashed the Crows to get their AFLW finals charge back on track.

The Dockers moved back into the top eight with a 9.6 (60) to 5.5 (35) win at Unley Oval, breaking a run of six-straight losses to the Crows dating back to 2021.

It was just their second win over Adelaide in total, who denied them finals last year with a final-round win and dumped them out in the semifinal in 2024.

The victory was set up by one of the all-time quarters from the evergreen Kiara Bowers, who exploded out of the gate with 10 touches, one goal and 248m gained in the first term.

It continues the 34-year-old’s incredible form in her 11th season, finishing with 30 disposals and six clearances, and laying a game-high eight tackles.

Despite coming into the clash with the same 3-3 record, the gulf between the two sides couldn’t look more stark as Fremantle seemed to have the ball on a string.

The Dockers slammed through four straight goals while keeping Adelaide scoreless, led by Bowers and a lack of fundamentals from Adelaide.

Hayley Miller became Fremantle’s all-time leading goalscorer with a tidy finish from the boundary before Eden Zanker benefited from a shocking turnover at half back from the Crows.

The Adelaide defence looked all at sea against the former Demon, who played her best game since crossing to join the Dockers in the off-season, finishing with three goals, having kicked just three from her first six games.

The Crows were under the pump as Fremantle brought a manic pressure, the home side stuck in their defensive half.

Bravely or perhaps foolishly, Adelaide continued to try and take the game on through the middle, but they could not find their way through; with the Dockers picking them off at will at half-back.

Coach Ryan Davis summed it up at the break, saying they were getting “beaten inside and outside” the contest.

The Crows flooded numbers back in the second quarter to stop the bleeding, but it meant when they did win the ball it was all Fremantle in front of them.

Sarah Goodwin finally got the Crows’ first goal 10 minutes into the second quarter before the Dockers responded with three of their own either side of the third quarter break.

Bowers kicked multiple goals for the first time in her career and by midway through the third quarter was up to 20 disposals.

To the Crows’ credit, they managed to even up the contest numbers as the game went on and largely dominated the final quarter to kick four of the last five goals of the game.

But the damage had been done early as Fremantle now turn their eyes to a massive western derby clash against West Coast next weekend.
