South Africa have won their first Test series in India since 2000-01, beating the hosts by 408 runs in the second cricket Test in Guwahati.

India were 5-90 at tea on Wednesday but quickly lost their remaining five wickets to be bowled out for 140. World Test Championship winners South Africa won the opening Test in Kolkata by 30 runs.

India captain and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was among the three morning wickets to fall, out for 13 off the bowling of Simon Harmer, who finished with six second-innings wickets.

Chasing an improbable 549-run target, India were 2-27 at stumps on Tuesday, day four of the Test.

On Monday, Marco Jansen took 6-48 to help South Africa take a 314-run first innings lead when India were bowled out for 201 in reply to South Africa's 489.
