VideoChris Lynn becomes the first and only player to reach 4,000 runs in Big Bash League history with a powerful strike deep into the crowd at square leg.

Australian cricketer Chris Lynn served a secret ban after a mid-tournament cocaine binge, it has been revealed.

The Big Bash League legend has undergone a rehabilitation program after a drug test on the day of England’s T20 Blast final came back positive for the recreational drug.

Lynn admitted to using cocaine for “several hours” after retiring hurt in a game for Northants.

He served a secret one-match ban — between July 31 and August 30 — for the incident, which was reduced from three months because he took part in the program.

The suspension meant he played only one game in the Lankan Premier League season after pulling out with an unspecified leg injury.

Lynn avoided sanctions under World Anti-Doping Regulations due to the low levels returned in the test.

The findings noted Lynn did not have a therapeutic use exemption for cocaine and that the cricketer had successfully argued his drug use amounted to an out-of-competition violation unrelated to sporting performance.

Lynn had been struck on the foot while batting during the match.

The former Brisbane Heat megastar has signed a contract with Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming BBL season after departing Adelaide Strikers.

While his returns were modest last season, Lynn remains one of the biggest hitters in the competition.

The ban is not expected to impact him playing for the Renegades, who start their campaign with a blockbuster match in India against the reigning champion Perth Scorchers on December 12.
