Perth Wildcats import Vic Law has shrugged off concerns about an ankle injury to dominate against Tasmania JackJumpers and lift his team to a 89-78 win and guarantee the team will return to WA with warm feeling of victory.

The Wildcats will arrive back in Perth on Tuesday night after more than two months on the road and seize upon the chance to see their families when the border opens on Thursday.

They still have four more games interstate before getting to play at RAC Arena, starting with Sunday’s game against Adelaide.

But they will finish the season with nine consecutive home games.

Perth entered the game under pressure following four losses from their past five games and knowing they would drop to fifth if they lost. But they advanced to 9-6 with the victory and are sitting third on the ladder.

Mitch Norton sat out the game with concussion following a blow to the head of Saturday and while Law passed a fitness test on his ankle but started on the bench.

The Game AFL 2024

It was an ominous sign but once Law stepped onto the court, he showed his class.

Law had a massive impact from his 27 minutes with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Bryce Cotton was again his main partner with 20 points and five assists while also having four three-pointers.

Luke Travers, who barely played against South East Melbourne on Saturday due to injury, looked back to full fitness as he scored 16 points and had five rebounds.

And Matt Hodgson picked up where he left off against the Phoenix with 15 points and six rebounds. Perth have battled to win rebound battles but dominated that contest 48-30.

Under pressure import Michael Frazier II struggled again.

He failed to score and had three turnovers. Frazier hasn’t been able to display the skill that led to him playing in the NBA and questions continue to hang over whether the Wildcats need to make a change to their roster.

Things looked grim when the Wildcats again started poorly and trailed by 10 points during the first period.

But they took over during the second quarter and raced to a 19-point lead during the third period while restricting Tasmania to 12 points.

The JackJumpers continued to fight but couldn’t find a way to get close enough to threaten.

Josh Adams scored 15 points, Jack McVeigh produced 16 and Mikyle Mcintosh finished with 15.
