Bailey Smith Brownlow Medal night: Geelong star reveals date, gives Tammy Hembrow relationship update

Bailey Smith has finally spoken out about his relationship with Tammy Hembrow.

The AFL star, 24, discussed his romance with the 31-year-old fitness influencer during an appearance on KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O Show on Monday.

It comes after weeks of speculation, stemming from Smith and Hembrow heading out on a date on the Gold Coast in early August, and enjoying dinner at Rick Shores in Burleigh Heads.

A few weeks later, Hembrow visited Melbourne, where she and Smith dined at Entrecôte in Prahran, with the pair seemingly confirming their romance via Instagram.

When host Kyle Sandilands asked, “What’s going on? Are you taking Tammy tonight or not?” Smith replied, “No, I’m not. No. I didn’t want to bore her with footy all night”.

“She’s not a big footy fan. And we’re just mates.”

Co-host Jackie Henderson followed up, “So, you guys aren’t exclusive or boyfriend and girlfriend?” Smith responded, “No, we’re just mates.”

Smith went on to reveal he will be bringing his jiu-jitsu instructor to the awards ceremony instead: “I’m taking my jiu-jitsu coach. He’s a good man. He’s one of my best mates. And he’ll be blind all night. Yeah, he’s having a big one,” he said.

Shortly after Smith’s interview, Hembrow posted a striking bikini selfie to Instagram, keeping fans intrigued about her relationship status.

Speculation had swirled that Hembrow would attend the Brownlow Medal alongside Smith after she was seen with him following her split from husband Matthew Zukowski.

Zukowski and Hembrow became engaged in December 2023 after three months of dating, marrying the following November, but they announced their divorce in June.

By August, Hembrow was linked with Smith. On a recent episode of Matt’s Where’s Your Head At podcast, he claimed he ended their marriage for “mental health” reasons, and said he was hurt by how quickly Hembrow moved on, only two months after their public split.
