A 15-year-old apprentice in a woodworking shop in Turkey has died after his co-workers allegedly played a horrific “prank” by inserting a high-pressure air hose into his rectum.

According to the local Turkish news outlet Milliyet, the incident occurred Friday in Sanliurfa.

The victim, Muhammed Kendirci, was reportedly overpowered and restrained by fellow apprentice Habip Aksoy and another unidentified colleague at the carpentry workshop.

The two allegedly forcibly removed his pants and tied his hands before inserting an air compressor hose into his anus, causing severe internal damage.

Kendirci was taken to Harran University Research and Application Hospital after initial treatment at local hospitals, but died five days later from the injuries sustained, Milliyet reported.

He spent his final five days in intensive care.

Aksoy was initially arrested and released on probation but was subsequently detained again. It is unclear what charges he faces.

The high-pressure air hose, a tool used commonly for auto repair, sanding and powering nail guns, has been involved in similar fatal “pranks” in recent years.

In 2023, 16-year-old Motilal Sahu died after a co-worker inserted an air hose into his rectum at a factory in India, and in 2017, 17-year-old Wesner Moreira da Silva died from similar injuries after a prank at a car wash in Brazil.

The investigation into Kendirci’s death remains ongoing.
