Former duchess Sarah Ferguson is making desperate attempts at finding a place to live after her European hideout was exposed.
The 66-year-old has been keeping out of the public eye since late 2025 as the Epstein scandal saw Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor get stripped of his princely title.
When the US Department of Justice began to release the files on December 19 that year, Ms Ferguson faced increasing public scrutiny over her own relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Though she was not photographed, it is understood that the last time she was seen at a public event was at the christening of her daughter Princess Beatrice’s second child on December 12, 2025.
Alongside Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, the ex-duchess was booted from the Royal Lodge in early February.
It was first believed she fled to the UAE before flying to the Swiss Alps. Later reports revealed Ms Ferguson had been holed up in Zurich, Switzerland at a luxury retreat.
Since then, the former duchess was revealed to have been staying at a pricey spa retreat in Altaussee, Austria, with each night costing $3775 or more. She was pictured at the lakeside getaway on April 16 wearing a blue coat and a white baseball cap.
While there, Ms Ferguson is understood to have stayed indoors as much as possible, avoiding common areas, even the picturesque walking trails. She also lived exclusively off room service.
Now, inside sources have suggested Ms Ferguson has been using her network of rich and famous names as she scouts out her next hideaway location.
“Sarah has good friends. People who know her well are happy to help her. She won’t be left with nowhere to go,” one source told the Daily Mail.
Ms Ferguson has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, but after Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, she has reportedly been bracing for possible legal action from the US.
Previously, it had been thought her connection to Epstein was a result of her continuing close relationship with the former prince, whom she continued to live with at the Royal Lodge even after their 1996 divorce.
Emails attributed to Ms Ferguson in the Epstein files revealed that she referred to the disgraced financier as a “brother”, “friend” and “pillar” in her life. She also kept in close correspondence with him while he was jailed in the late 2000s.
Ms Ferguson’s public image worsened when emails revealed she had likely taken her daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie on a trip to visit Epstein in New York just days after he was released from prison in 2009. Beatrice was 21-years-old at the time, while Eugenie was 19-years-old.
The ex-duchess has felt the financial toll of the Andrew and Epstein scandal, with six businesses related to her having been wound up, alongside her charity, Sarah’s Trust.
Other inside sources have claimed that Ms Ferguson’s own daughters are firm in their resolve to keep a distance from their mother, and will certainly not allow her to occupy a room in their homes.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein’s sex trafficking. Police questioned him for 11 hours after his arrest on February 19, before he was released back to Wood Farm on Sandringham, where King Charles cast him out to months after stripping him of his princely title.
He has now been moved to his “final” place of exile at Marsh Farm, where he is understood to be living according to “bail” like conditions imposed on him by his brother.
