Nurture Through Nature childcare: Arson squad investigate blaze on Truarn Street, one person assisting police
Police are questioning a person after a Mandurah daycare was damaged in a possible arson attack overnight.
Arson squad officers are investigating what caused the fire at Nurture Through Nature childcare centre on Truarn Street in Mandurah about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
It is understood the cause of the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
A police spokeswoman said firefighters extinguished the fire after being called to the blaze.
“No one was inside the premises or injured,” she said.
“A person is assisting police with their inquiries.”
In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday night, staff at the centre said they had been left “absolutely devastated” after learning of the fire.
“We are still assessing the damage the fire has done to our beautiful centre and we will be contact all of our families tonight once we have more information,” they said.
“We are so thankful the centre was closed and no one was on site when this happened.
“Thank you to everyone (who) has reached out with their kind messages.”
