Broome sexual assault: Man arrested for assault of two women at tourist hotspots, Gantheaume Point

Police have arrested a man after two women were sexually assaulted at popular tourist spots in Broome overnight Saturday.

In the first attack, a 24-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at Gantheaume Point between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday evening.

A few hours later, at about 2.30am, a second woman was attacked while sleeping in her van.

The 25-year-old was asleep at Broome’s Town Beach car park on Robinson Street when she was woken by a man who had entered her vehicle.

She escaped the van but was followed by the man to a grassed area close by where she was attacked and sexually assaulted.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the crimes.

He was taken into custody in Broome at 11am on Sunday.
