A vehicle breakdown on Roe Highway northbound has caused major peak hour congestion as commuters head home on Wednesday afternoon.

The breakdown, which is located after the Great Eastern Highway bypass in Hazelmere, was reported by Main Roads at 4.01pm.

The left lane of Roe Highway has been blocked by the incident, causing “heavy” traffic congestion leading up to the site.

Main Roads has advised motorists to drive with “extreme” caution if travelling in the area.

Another breakdown has been reported on Tonkin Highway southbound at 4.22pm.

The breakdown was located after the Great Eastern Highway turnoff in Redcliffe and partially blocked the right lane.
