WA Police urge honesty on G2G application after two found lying about NSW travel in Kimberley

WA Police are reminding travellers not to make false declarations on their G2G applications after two people were found to have lied about being in NSW to gain entry to WA in the last week. A 19-year-old man was escorted back to the Northern Territory from the Kununurra border checkpoint after he was found to have lied about previous travel in NSW. The man had been declined entry on multiple attempts at submitting a G2G pass, as he stated he had been in NSW, a medium-risk jurisdiction with travel currently prohibited, within the last 14 days. He then later submitted a successful G2G application that purposely omitted his travel in NSW. The omission was detected after he drove to the Kununurra checkpoint this week and had his pass checked against previous applications. The man was directed to leave WA and escorted across the border into the Northern Territory. In a similar incident, a 50-year-old woman who arrived at the East Kimberley Regional Airport from Darwin was found to have made a false declaration on her G2G pass after a series of failed applications. When questioned by police on entry, she admitted she had left NSW just one day prior to flying to Kununurra. Investigations are continuing on both incidents, with WA Police confirming the two travellers face possible penalties including fines and imprisonment.
