Kurt Hunter kicks six for Crocs in resounding round six win over the Warmun Eagles

It was another thrilling weekend of football as the East Kimberley Football League battled it out for round six with Kurt Hunter kicking six goals for the Port Wyndham Crocs.
The Crocs destroyed the Warmun Eagles in a one-sided match that saw the Crocs more than double the Eagles’ score.
The Crocs jumped to an early lead with the Eagles not far behind as the two sides went clashed at Clarrie Cassidy Oval on Saturday afternoon, 3.4 (22) to 1.4 (10).
The Eagles kept themselves in the game during the second term, kicking three goals but were outkicked by the Crocs who managed to slip five goals though before the half-time break, 8.5 (53) to 4.6 (30).
Both sides ratcheted up their defence in the third term bringing the scoring pace to a halt with both teams missing several opportunities and coming away with just one goal, 5.9 (39) to 9.10 (64).
The last term saw the Crocs pull out all the stops and surge on the scoreboard, kicking six goals while the Eagles struggled to keep pace, kicking just one goal and handing the Crocs a resounding win, 15.13 (103) to 6.13 (49).
Kurt Hunter was the top goal kicker for the match on six while Spencer Morgan was the top goal kicker for the Eagles on two.
It was a much closer match between the Kununurra Demons and the Ord River Magpies at the Kununurra Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon with the Demons clinching the win.
The Demons were quick to get on the scoreboard in the first term, kicking three goals while the Magpies struggled to find their feet, kicking just one, 3.5 (23) to 1.0 (6).
But the Magpies managed to claw back some ground in the second term, kicking two goals to the Demons’ one, keeping them in the game going into the second half, 4.6 (30) to 3.2 (20).
The Demons kept their lead in the second half, kicking three goals in the third term while the Magpies kicked two of their own, 7.9 (51) to 5.3 (33).
It was a big final quarter for the Magpies who outscored the Demons with three goals, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead with the Demons hanging on with two goals of their own, 9.11 (65) to 83 (51).
The Demons’ Peter Benji Curtin and the Magpies’ Jaxon Forbes tied for the top goal scorers of the match on three each.
The Waringarri Crows had a bye this week.
In the women’s league, the Ord River Magpies delivered a massive loss to the Kununurra Demons, more than quadrupling their score as the two teams battled it out at the Kununurra Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.
The Demons couldn’t get off the ground in the first half making just one score while the Magpies surged with nine goals, 9.3 (57) to 1.0 (6).
The second half was a repeat of the first with the Magpies taking pot shots at goal while the Demons struggled to take control of the ground kicking a total of just three goals over the course of the match, 12.8 (86) to 3.2 (20).
The Magpies’ Lucy Colgan was the top scorer of the match with a massive five goals while Lilly Darcy, Melinda Gore and Jodeen Roberts-Hall tied for the top scorer for the Demons with one goal each.
The Port Wyndham Crocs and the Waringarri Crows had a bye this week.
